Your Questions About Dog Pain Relief Over The Counter

Temporary pain relief for wrist sprain?

I believe I have a severe sprain in my right wrist. It has been injured for 6-8 week at least. I injured it when I went to grab my dogs collar and she ran yanking my wrist very hard and fast. I had pain from my wrist to elbow. Most everything has healed except the ligaments around the joint. I have been trying to get an appointment with my doctor but haven’t been able to. I have tried a splint with no relief. The only thing that helps is wrapping it with two ace bandages. I want to know if there is anything I can do or take to help with the pain temporarily.I have tried ice and most common over-the-counter pain relievers, I rest it every chance I get. I just need something that will last a few hours.

Someone please help me help my dog!!!?

I have a 12 year old miniature dachshund, Shadow. As a senior dog, he has a few problems that I need help treating so I can have him with me for the next 8 years.

1) I know dogs are much like humans and need to keep good oral hygiene. I try to brush his teeth often but that doesn’t seem to help. I also have mouthwash (dog brand, of course) that you add to their water and that only seems to serve as a temporary relief. He’s too old for anesthesia. So, surgery is not an option.

2) whenever he has an itch in his ears he usually doesn’t have a problem scratching his left, but his right seems to be painful for him…as he is reluctant to scratch his right ear.

3) It’s really hard for him to walk up the stairs. I assume this is an arthritis problem? Sometimes, he also has lower back pain. Are there any over the counter dog pain relievers?

4) he seems a lot more sluggish recently. He doesn’t get up to greet (or bark at) people at the door. He just sleeps all day. Should I increase his daily activities to make him more active?

Hi there, I’ve been struggling with stomach problems since about 1st grade.
I’m 14 now, and next year i’ll be a freshman in highschool.
When i was younger, the pain wasn’t bad at all.
In fact, my mom just though I was another kiddo with the common tummy ache.
As I got older, the pain worsened. I was put on previcad [sorry if the spelling is incorrect]
for about 2 years. It never worked for me. Then my doctor subscribed pepcid AC over the counter.
It worked for about a week and then the symptoms came back.
I had missed so much school in my 5th grade year, I got homeschooled in 6th grade.
Then in 7th, I attempted to go back to public school, and ended up missing 50 days of school.
I then am now in a private homeschooling, and everyday i’m sick as a dog.
I was diagnosed with mono, and my doctor scheduled me an appointment at Akron Childrens Hospital.
I went to this doctor, and lemme tell you. This guy, in my opinion, is a total quack.
He told me basically, that i’m a hypochondriac. And that I need to just get back into society and do something with my life.
He also discriminated on my homeschooling and then told me that nothing was wrong with me besides I had a case of ibs.
My mother and I stormed out of the office that day, and I refuse to go back to him.
From that day on, I’ve been to the doctors atleast once a week for my stomach.
I’m having horrible burning sensation. I was put on nexium 40mg to stop the pain, but after 3 months of taking it I ate constantly
and gained weight rapidly. With that I had horrible insomnia, light headed/dizziness, and nausea still.
It seems like I just can’t escape this. I went back to my doctor and he put me on prilosect 20 mg twice daily.
So far, my stomach is constantly burning and nauseated. The last two days, everything I have ate has went straight through me.
I get so nauseated I have to sit still or else I will puke and I put ice packs on my lower intestine to stop the pain.
The burning is usually located between my stomach and belly button.
It tends to move down into my intestines, lower by my ovaries.
I really need some relief. I’ve been on tons of medications, and I take nausea pills like they’re candy.
I’m afraid i’ll end up addicted, and then in the end i’ll have no relief. I’m constantly concerned about my health.
I eat a healthy well balanced diet, and I take dietary suppliments.
I just need some relief. Enough is enough. My doctor won’t listen to me. I’ve wanted him to scope my stomach and see if anythings
there, and he won’t. He’s only tested me for every parasite known to cause any damage. Besides that, he just keeps throwing medication
at me. But something has to be wrong with me, or else I wouldn’t be feeling this way. I thought maybe you guys could help.
This is my first time ever posting anything, so i’m sorry if I threw out useless information or made it a novel.
I’m desperate for answers or relief.

is there anything i can do to help my yellow lab?

My family dog is a yellow lab… we adopted her a couple years ago. she has a weight problem for sure. she sometimes scoots around, it makes me frown. but anyways, my parents cant afford to take her to the vet or they wont, idk. she is really worrying me.

what is really worrying me (besides her weight) is her joints. on one of her elbows, it looks really bad…. i took a picture:

i can take another but i think you get the point. =[ she licks it alot. is there anything i can do over the counter? like wrap her leg up? put something on it? give her some asprins? she has doggy hip/joint pain relief treats but idk if thats enough.

i have heard there are ways to see vets for free but am unsure how.

i really love this dog and i dont want her to be in pain! thanks for your help, i really appericate it.

yes, i walk her everyday. more if i can. shes been on a diet. she is mostly an inside dog and i dont believe its a bite.

ahh! it does look bad. =[ should i take her in and see what they say? just tell them i dont have any money please help.
well im still not sure on what to do if i could do anything to wrap her leg up but i think with what people are saying i will try and take her into the vet or call them and just explain myself to them.
